Sports

There are different kinds of sports: indoor and outdoor sports, summer or winter sports, ball games, water sports and even dangerous sports. Some people never do any sports, other people do sports regularly. I go jogging three times a week, and I go swimming at the weekends. In winter I often go skiing and skating, and in summer I like swimming, surfing and playing basketball with my friends.

Indoor sports can be done in a sports centre (some of them can be done even at home): aerobics, gymnastics, running and jogging (though it is healthier if you run or jog in the nature), martial arts, darts or ball games.

Outdoor sports are done in the nature, like water sports, ball games, winter sports, shooting, archery, playing bowls and horse-riding.

Water sports are done in a swimming pool, by a river, lake or sea. Water sports are: swimming, sailing, surfing, water skiing, rowing, canooing, water polo, diving and angling.

Ball games are sports using different kinds of balls, at both indoor and outdoor places.Ball games are: football, (English people call it soccer), basketball, baseball, handball, volleyball, cricket, golf, tennis, badmington, ice-hockey or table tennis.

Winter sports need winter conditions: snow or ice. They are skiing, ice-skating, ice-hockey, snowboarding or sledging.

Martial arts are sports from Asian countries. People invented them to fight and defend themselves by them. These are like thai box, karate, judo, kendo or jiu-jitsu.

When you take dangerous sports like car racing, hunting or bungee jumping, you can risk your life. They are really exciting but you can die if an accident happens or if you don't keep the safety instructions properly.

My favourite sports are basketball and ice-skating, but I also like playing tennis and swimming. I play basketball every weekend with my friends, and I skate every winter. When I was a child, I did karate and I played handball, but I stopped them when I went to grammar school and I had less time for sports. I like watching car racing and golf on TV.
