If you want to dine out (eating not at home), you can choose a traditional restaurant or a fast food restaurant. There are first, second and third class restaurants - of course, the first class ones are the most expensive, though nowadays to eat in any kind of restaurants is expensive.
Traditional restaurants are more expensive than fast food restaurants, sometimes we even have to book a table in advance if the place is popular, but the dishes are healthier and the atmosphere is more relaxed and more elegant than in a fast food restaurant.
In a traditional restaurant we enter and the waiter or waitress comes to greet us, then he or she shows our table. We sit down, read the menu and we can choose from a lot of different soup, first and second courses, and desserts. We can drink different kinds of beer, wine or soft drinks. The variety of dishes and drinks is huge. There are smoking and non-smoking areas in a restaurant.
When we decided what to eat and drink, the waiter/waitress comes and writes the order down. We have to wait a little till the meal is prepared, but it never takes more than 15-20 minutes till our lunch/dinner is ready. After we have eaten and drunk enough, we pay the bill and we leave a little tip for the waiter/waitress.
In a fast food restaurant we enter and walk to the counter. There are no waiters or waitresses - the people work behind the counters. We quickly read the menu, placed on the wall and we quickly choose what we want to eat and drink.
The variety of dishes and drinks is small. At McDonalds, for example, we can have hamburgers, chips, some dessert like icecream, some pies or doughnuts, and we can drink Coke, mineral water or some sparkling soft drinks like Sprite or energy drinks. In a fast food restaurant we mustn't smoke.
We quickly get our chosen meal and drinks, (it takes only a few minutes as most of the dishes are pre-prepared so they are ready-made or they have to be warmed up only), everything is put on a tray, then we pay and we have to leave and find a free table when we can eat.
I prefer traditional restaurants (especially Italian restaurants) but I don't eat there very often because the prices are too high for me. Sometimes I like eating in a fast food restaurant (like McDonalds) because I love cheeseburgers - even though they are not healthy at all.
